Make a WordArt Book following my tutorial, after linking it as normal, add a comment to let me know that you followed my tutorial along with any feedback for future ones I may write. I will choose a winner next Tuesday evening and offer the choice of one of my many new and unused stamps (and I'm sure some other bits to play with will find their way into the package!)
(I am aware that there are commercially available templates for similar books but I have never purchased one - this tutorial was written before I'd seen them on the market)
WordArt Book
WordArt is available on all versions of Microsoft Word. Your icon may be in a different place on your screen to mine – but it will look the same...
...A capital ‘A’ in blue.
(Highlighted with a red box within the PrintScreen Image)
Open a Word document (A4 size)
Click on the WordArt icon and insert your chosen word into WordArt using the ‘default’ WordArt Style
*************************************************************************
Stretch your word to fit ½ of the page.
Hold cursor over your word – left click mouse – choose ‘Show WordArt Toolbar’.
Click onto ‘WordArt Character Spacing’, which is depicted by an ‘AV’ with a double ended arrow below – Choose ‘Tight’.
************************************************************************
Notice the letters are now a little tighter? This WILL make a difference to your completed template ;)
Hold down ‘Ctrl’ key, holding your cursor over the word, click and hold left mouse button and drag your word. You will see the cursor with a ‘+’ sign whilst dragging the word, dotted lines show where the word is until you let go of the ‘Ctrl’ and mouse buttons. This gives you an EXACT copy below the original….. You now have 2 templates exactly the same.
***********************************************************************
Print this page as many times as you need to give you 1 template for each letter.
Cut the templates out starting with just the first letter. Each template increases by a letter.
**********************************************************************
You can now use these templates on your chosen card. As well as drawing and cutting around the letter make sure you clearly mark and then cut all along the top and bottom of each piece – don’t worry about the left hand edge at the moment, leave this as ‘long’ as possible.
Once you have all pieces cut out position your letter pages together as you would like them to look in your book. At this stage the left hand edges will probably be different lengths – that’s fine – get the letters looking good and then holding them together firmly, cut through them all making your left hand edge even (you’ll probably want to tidy them up individually with your guillotine). You need to leave a gap of a few cm’s before the first letter to fix all pieces together, thus making the spine (the last picture of the ‘BABY’ WordArt Book standing explains this last paragraph a bit more!)
Decorate the pages before fixing them together. I use Peel Offs to outline the letters. There are many ways you can fix your pages together…DST, Brads, Eyelets, etc…
Here are a few of my completed WordArt Books…
Isn't that an absolutely fabulous tutorial? I always wondered how these were made, so I am soooo gonna give this one a try!!
Now onto some inspiration from Team Number One!

great dt cards and tips. janex
ReplyDeleteI wanted to pass on a tip I stumbled across last week. I have a ton of those flat back gems and the teensy tiny ones are so hard to work with. I've tried everything but usually just throw them out. I was using my paper piercer and found that if you dip the very top in your glue (I use Zig two way writers fine tip)it works GREAT to grab those tiny gems and put them in place. I've tried everything to pick them up and they flop all over the place. But with the paper piercer it was a breeze! Hope this helps someone.
ReplyDeleteExcellent job Carol and everyone!
ReplyDeleteLove all the examples.
Leanne- love the new look!
Lovely DT cards and a great tutorial on the WordArt books. Will enter a card and a tip as to how I created it this week.
ReplyDeleteTine :)
Fantastic tutorial! Definately going to give this a try. Gorgeous creations from the DT, take careX:)
ReplyDeleteI put my tip in the card's post under your name. Great examples DT. You are all very talented:)
ReplyDeleteHi ladies, my tip for you is to try making those flowers yourself. I created mine on my card for this week challenge - adapting the one made with a Scall0ped Circle Punch - I wamted something smaller, so tried it with plain circle punches - this worked so well, especially as I used a lightly smallers size circle for the very inside layer - give it a try - you are going to LOVE it! {{{hugs}}}
ReplyDeleteThe tip I have for you is when putting ribbon around the card.. instead of haveing it bulge the backside. I neatly glue it (with a zots dot) to itself. Meaning I fold the end of the ribbon back onto the backside of the ribbon and glue it into place. doing so to bothsides then tack to card. making neat ends without the bulge. hope this helps

Hi ladies - love the new look of your blog!
ReplyDeleteMy tip is one I have used quite a lot lately. I sometimes don't have the right colour plain card to mat my layers onto. So what I do is to use a plain ivory card, cut it to the size I want, and then colour the edge of the card with a Promarker to match the paper or image (just colour say 5mm around the edge that is going to show behind the paper) - hope that makes sense! I have done that for all the pink matting and the die-cut heart on my challenge entry.

Awesome tip this week, thanks so much for this money saving idea!!
ReplyDeleteGREAT TUTORIAL! WOW this is great....
ReplyDeleteMy tip for this week's challenge is:
You can add dimension to die cuts by edging them with Versamark Ink.
Dawn from Dawn Crafts Sent me !! Lovely Blog! So many cool ideas!
ReplyDeleteAwesome tutorial- I want to make one of those in a bad way for my daughter- with her sorority Greek letters- Thanks! I make color charts for everything....paint, ink. Copics....then, hold it next to the work you are doing and it is easier to pick your best match of colors.
ReplyDeleteThank You! Great Challenge: My tip: I use my straightening iron to press my wrinkled ribbons!
ReplyDeleteGreat Tut - I haven't got Word but will see if I can do something similar in Paint Shop Pro.
ReplyDeleteLove all these tips, especially Andreas, about matching card to your project. I am going to try that one.

Great challenge - so good I entered twice :)
ReplyDeleteI have also shared a top on the post on my blog, but briefly, print out digi-stamps a day or two before you need to use them, it really makes a difference. I like to know the ink has well and truly dried.
I also print mine when I have downloaded them, it makes them very tempting to colour and much easier to be inspired by them!

I love looking at everyones lovely cards. Though I have been here many times and entered many challenges, this time Dawn sent me and I decided to become a follower. Love all the great tips.
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial!
ReplyDeleteMy top tip this week is to keep the ribbons from inside your new clothes that hold it on the hanger ... you'll be amazed at the selection of different colours you'll amass and you'll have something that matches your project 9 times out of 10!
Carole,
ReplyDeleteI was able to make a wordart booklet with your instructions. I have tried several times before but have never been able to get it right until now. You can see my creation at http://sallyscreativecorner.blogspot.com/2011/01/quick-post-card-and-word-art-book.html. For some reason only my card came up in the inlinkz thingy. Will try to upload it again.. Thanks for a great tutorial... Can you do one for Microsoft 2010? I can't find the icons in that program. I told you I was dense. LOL
My tip is to keep the chipboard tags that are on a lot of the clothes you can buy at ASDA. They are a nice seize, very sturdy and great to cover with designer paper to match your project.
ReplyDeleteLovely challenge.
ReplyDeleteGreat Challenge!
ReplyDeleteAh, my tip is similar to another post, but will add it anyway.
When trying to pick up and place small gems, you can always use a cotton bud and just dab it on glue stick. Then use it to pick up and place your gem.
Hugs
